Are You Fabricating Your Hoses Following HSI Guidelines?

hose knowledge | hose practices | industrial hose | NAHAD | hose distribution

We all know that a properly assembled hose goes a long way in extending the life of the hose and preventing accidents that harm the environment or cause risk or injury. The Association for Hose and Accessories Distribution (NAHAD) has become the go-to-organization for hose assembly fabrication, best practices and guidelines.  NAHAD’s Hose Safety Institute (HSI) is focused on building consensus between hose manufacturers and distributors and educating its members on top-tier hose assembly specifications, design, fabrication, handling, and management.

Have your Fabrication Team HSI Fabrication Certified

NAHAD now offers a series of interactive and in-depth online courses that cover composite, corrugated metal, hydraulic, and industrial hose fabrication through NAHAD Academy. NAHAD’s Fabrication courses are excellent learning aids to use for onboarding new employees and ensuring seasoned employees refresh their skills.

The Fabrication courses are narrated and have specific learning objectives that include key steps in the fabrication process:

  • Hose Fabrication
  • Testing and Cleanliness
  • Documentation
  • Final Inspection
  • Identification
  • Storage and Packaging
  • Personal Safety

In addition, each course includes a Resource section with documents that apply to that specific hose type. Those resources include a comprehensive NAHAD glossary of terms and definitions.

The best part is that upon successful completion of the course, Fabrication certification is good for three years. Recertification is achieved by participating and reporting 10 hours of industry Continuing Education (CE) over that three-year period.
